BIOGRAPHY
Mz. Icar is an anonymous, interdisciplinary art collective whose work centers radical Black futurity, play, and autonomy. Rooted in collage, installation, and time-based media, the collective explores themes of identity, memory, and liberation through large-scale murals, public installations, and speculative design.
Their work has been exhibited at Paradigm Gallery (Philadelphia), MINT Gallery (Atlanta), and Welancora Gallery (Brooklyn), and featured in the Photoville Festival in Downtown Brooklyn. Mz. Icar has created site-specific installations for Otherworld Philadelphia and Etsy’s headquarters, and produced branded art for Ms. Lauryn Hill’s world tour, Essence Magazine, Nickelodeon, and Doritos.
In 2021, the collective was selected for the Philadelphia Fellowship for Black Artists presented by Mural Arts Philadelphia. Their large-scale public works are in the permanent collections of the City of Boston, Green Bay, Wisconsin, and Luna Park in Coney Island. Recent projects include Ile Omi, a projection-mapped underwater world honoring African diasporic memory, and The Full Set, a 20-foot inflatable sculpture celebrating Black beauty practices.
Mz. Icar continues to push the boundaries of narrative and form, blending analog traditions and emerging technology to create communal, immersive experiences.
